  1. This is a very interesting article because it addresses my skepticism about McDonalds in anti-west cultures. It was only a matter of time before the issues between the Russians and Americans translated into a war for market shares. It’s a shame that some of these Russian nationalists seem to forget that other Russians are the ones that run these McDonalds units. I do believe that many more McDonalds and other western type restaurants will be shut down because of “health and safety” concerns. However, with many Russians having a stake in the success of McDonalds, I do not see the end of McDonalds in Russia just yet.

  2. I think this is crazy that someone is going to try and compete with McDonalds. Even though they are Russian and opening in the Russian market I don't think they will have a chance. Even with the possible backing of Vladimir Putin I still don't think it will be enough. McDonalds is well established in Russia and is loved by the general people. The brothers doing this are fighting for a healthier alternative to western fast foods and unfortunately healthier usually means more expensive or not as tasty. Because of this it will be impossible for them to compete with the cheap deliciousness of McDonalds.

  3. This article is extremely interesting to me especially after todays speaker. The part that is interesting is the fact that these people want to drive McDonald's out of the country solely because of the health of the food. Isn't it the person eating the food to chose whether they want to eat the unhealthy food or not? I believe that these people are fairly crazy to think that they will be able to compete with a monster like McDonalds. Also, it is very skeptical that these two are going to get backing from Putin even though Russians are the ones that are running these locations for McDonalds.

  4. Wow! I think this project needs to kick in and start penetrating their domestic market. Russia is very blank in around the world or just has a negative vibe all around. With a project like this they can change, at least a decent percentage, of their reputation and economy. One of the key factors of any successful business is believing in it and the patriotism of these Russians definitely resembles that. They have a cause that can definitely be taken care of. If they put in all the work necessary they can reach to kick out McDonalds and many other Foreign restaurants and replacing them with their national restaurants and hopefully succeeding to the point where they are able to extend their success to other parts of the world.

  5. I believe that if these two brothers achieve their goals, this could be a huge move in the world. When one country does it the entire world starts building consciousness about the situation and will start taking action. The problem would be trying to defeat Mcdonalds, which I believe is a very dumb thing to do given the fact that Mcondalds is so big and many people have already created a personal attachment to it. I still do believe they can raise enough awarness to kick Mcondalds out of the country.
